We're back and I thought I'd share some of our snaps from Bruges. Sorry it's a bit picture heavy but I hope the kids will look in a few years and remember some of it! To start a few collages for those that just want a quick peek!
The start of the adventure, getting on the ferry in Hull.
The buildings are all lit up by night and so pretty!
The architecture is also very beautiful.
We stayed in The Grand Hotel Casselbergh, a step up from our usual Premier Inn. The hotel was immaculate, the rooms large and expensively decorated. The communal areas were stunning.
The shop window displays were so well thought out, they need to come and arrange my house!
We visited the Half moon brewery, every trip away we try and visit a winery, brewery, distillery or cider making place (can't think of the term right now)
And the last few, us as a family
I've got hundreds more, but I won't subject you to any more.
I would love to visit Bruges, and visit the old lace making area's although the christmas markets are fantastic, I have visited a few in germany they were stunning and put our markets to shame :-)
ReplyDeleteThe markets were nice, the German market in Birmingham is better and having been to a Christmas market in Cologne the Germans do do the best markets. The city itself more than makes up for it though.
DeleteBruges is a very beautiful place and I imagine that at this time of year, it is particularly stunning. Mr D and I spent a wonderful weekend there a few years ago. I loved all your photos :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope it brought your trip back to you!
DeleteLovely photos, looks like you had a great time! :-)
ReplyDeleteWe did thanks, I'm just glad it wasn't bitterly cold, that sure helped.
DeleteLovely photos of a happy trip, the Christmas markets are such fun.
ReplyDeleteLife's short, we're trying to squeeze the most out of our time and money. We'd rather the kids didn't remember us only spending our time on the house (although they're in bed when we do a lot of the work)
DeleteWow, your pictures are really good. I'm envious of you folks, being young and doing interesting things. My wife and I are pretty much past that I think. We went to SHAPE headquarters a few times up in Belgium. In fact, I tried to teach my wife to drive a stick shift at a mall parking lot in Belgium, much to the amusement of on lookers. I was not successful. We went up into the Ardennes to visit the area where the battle of the Bulge was fought. But we never got to Bruges and seeing your pictures, I am sure sorry we missed it.
ReplyDeleteIt is a shame, but you can't see everything, not without a seriously extended lifetime. I imagine it was a bit like the scene in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts tries to teach Richard gear to use a manual gearbox. I still find it odd that you guys all drive automatics, while we all drive manuals!
DeleteGreat pictures. My wife and I went many years ago in the days of the campervan (before kids) and loved it. Many fruit beers sampled!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! We have nothing like it in the US. They want to tear down all the old and build junky new. It looks like you had a wonderful time.
